How to check carrier lock status on iOS (iPhone/iPad) devices
- On iOS 14 and up, open Settings, then select General and finally About
- If it reads ‘No SIM Restrictions’ in the carrier lock section, your device is unlocked, and you are good to install
- If your device is locked to a specific carrier, you should contact your mobile phone provider to check if it can be unlocked
- Devices purchased directly from the manufacturer (for instance, Apple) can be unlocked
- Those purchased via a carrier promotion cannot, until the contract is paid up in full
